Outfit of the Day: Accessories Make the Outfit

Statement Making Accessories

Hi guys! I know it has been a while, but I am finally back with an updated outfit of the day post! For a trip to church a few Sundays ago, I decided to play up a simple outfit with bold accessories.

(I have been thinking of starting each blog post with a selfie since I take so many lol! What do you think?)

When wearing a simple outfit I always try to add a pop of color or a little extra pizzazz with my accessories. I chose to play up my simple black skirt and tank with a bold black and white striped blazer, a statement necklace, a bright fluorescent satchel that I wore as a clutch and statement making black pump.
When choosing accessories sometimes less is more! I did not want to overpower my already bold blazer and bag so I chose to go with a chunky statement necklace, minimal earring and forgo wearing any other jewelry besides my wedding ring.

What is your take on bold statement pieces such as this fluorescent bag and statement necklace? Do you dare to be bold with your accessories?

ZARA SALE!!!!!!!!!

If you are not already aware, Zara's seasonal sale launched a few days ago! I was of course excited to see what items I could snag during the sale and as usual, Zara did not disappoint. Although I am "plus size" I still shop Zara. You should never let your size determine where you shop because you would be surprised what you can wear depending on the material or the cut. But that is a story for another blog post. I own a few clothing pieces but most of the items I own consist of shoes, handbags and accessories. These are items that can make or break an outfit and I must say that I am usually very pleased with the items that I purchase from Zara. Here are some of my favorites from the sale.

If you haven"t already, make sure to check out the Zara sale and score yourself some awesome deals. Happy shopping!

Currently Trending: The Bucket Bag

The Bucket List

One of my most recent obsessions has been the Mansur Gavriel bucket bag. This bag is a classic piece that can be worn with everything and will be a staple in any wardrobe for years to come. This gorgeous bucket bag is crafted from fine leather and is offered in an array of colors to fit any style pallet or profile. This bag is a bit on the pricey side, but as I stated before, I feel that it is an investment piece that will be used and can also be passed down to future generations if properly cared for.

If the price of the Masur Gavriel is out of your comfort range, check out some of the cheaper alternatives I found below.

How do you feel about the bucket bag? Do you think it is a wardrobe staple? I would love to know your thoughts so please leave me a comment. Thanks for reading!

Currently Trending: Fringe Benefits

A trend that I am currently loving and has been a reoccurring trend in fashion for many years/seasons is the fringe accents on everything from shoes, to jackets to purses and other accessories. I am all about the fringe! There are many different ways that you can incorporate this trend into your wardrobe, and if you don't want to make a huge investment something as simple as a scarf is an excellent way to start. Many mass retailers like Forever 21, Zara and Target offer cute fringe offerings that can easily be paired with items from your existing wardrobe.

I was actually searching for the perfect clutch with fringe accents and decided to purchase this Zara piece and I must say that I am so glad I did! I just received it yesterday and it is even more gorgeous in person! I can't wait to rock it with everything!

One high end designer that has put a fun spin on the fringe trend this season is Gucci. The current offering of fringe sandals, booties and purses are a fun and flirty way to spice up an otherwise simple outfit. These pieces are on the pricey side but can also end being an investment piece that can be worn for seasons and years to come.

Although fringe can be considered a trend, it is also something that repeats itself so you can be guaranteed to get some wear out of your more pricey items. These pieces can go from boho chic to casual to evening glam all depending on how you pair them.
Do you currently own any fringe clothing or accessory items? How would you rock the fringe trend?

Save or Splurge: Personalized Clutch

The Personalized Clutch

I am loving over-sized clutches right now and some of the coolest ones I have seen have cute little messages and sayings on them that express your thoughts, mood or point of view. These clutches are an awesome way to express yourself through fashion! How do you feel about this trend? Would you save or splurge?

I personally own the Zara clutch in white (this color is currently sold out) and am considering purchasing the yellow as well. I can't wait to pair my clutch with cute outfits for the spring and summer! Although I love the Boyy clutch, it is a bit pricey for my budget right now.
I plan on featuring my Zara clutch in an upcoming outfit post, but if anyone is interested in seeing a size comparison please let me know.

Save Me Sunday: Spring Blooms

Happy Spring and Happy Sunday to everyone! I know that I have been on hiatus for a while but hopefully I will be updating more often from now on. Being that it is spring and the temperatures are finally warming up, I was in the mood to put on some bright colors. It is no secret that I am a big fan of floral prints so for a morning at church I opted for a floral print blazer and a bright blue tank to offset my neutral trousers and shoes. I recently purchased my first pair of Brian Atwood pumps in a nude patent and I must say that they are some of the most comfortable heels that I own.

Unfortunately I am taking pictures inside today because it started raining when we were on our way home from church. Spring does after all bring rain showers. Hopefully soon I will be able to showcase more spring and summer outfits outside in the bright sunshine for the blog. Anyways, pictures and outfit details below.

Outfit of the Day: Casual Character

For a casual Sunday afternoon outing I decided to pair my Disney character sweatshirt with jeans and my timberland boots. I had a pair of these boots back in high school and unfortunately got rid of them. Just like with everything in fashion what was once old is new again so I decided to purchase a fresh pair to wear this winter. I have quite a few outfits in mind to pair these boots with so be prepared to see them a lot lol!

I was super excited when the Disney collection was released for Forever 21. I love cute little shirts with characters that can be mixed and matched with my everyday wardrobe and don't make me look juvenile. I must say that this collection did not disappoint. I purchased a few items and will probably end up picking up a few other shirts and a hat or two. You can shop what is left of the collection here. There are items available in regular, plus size and men's.

Sweatshirt: Forever 21 Disney Mickey & Co. Collection , Jeans: James Jeans cropped jeans, Boots: Timberland Women's 6" Premium Boots

I like to be dressed comfortably but not overdressed or dressed up (unless to occasion calls for it). Casual and cute is my staple. You will almost never catch me in sneakers and a t shirt, because that is just not how I feel comfortable. What are some of your favorite casual and weekend looks?

Prabal Gurung x Target Purchases

As promised, I have an update on what I purchased from the Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration. I was at my local Target store bright and early (8:00 AM to be exact!) because I did not want to miss out on any key pieces. Unfortunately for me since I live in a small town, my store did not get the entire collection. Bummer! Despite this, I still managed to get almost everything I wanted. The pieces that I purchased were the pointy toe pump in the nolita print, the long sleeve tee in floral crush print, and the blazer in the floral crush print. The two pieces that I wanted and was unable to get were the sweatshirt in first date print and the ankle strap pump in sulfur spring. Although I did not get those two items I am super pleased with what I did get a chance to purchase and can not wait to rock these new pieces soon! Please leave a comment and tell me what you bought if anything from the Prabal Gurung for Target collection.

Lust List: Shoes

Charlotte Olympia

Lately I have become obsessed with Charlotte Olympia shoes! The gorgeous exaggerated island platform I feel is what really draws me to this particular designer. Although I know that a lot of designers in recent collections have strayed from the platform style, I believe it is what makes Charlotte Olympia's designs so special. On the other end of the spectrum, I am also completely in love with the kitty and charlotte's web flats! Although I love a gorgeous sexy heel, I can also appreciate the beauty and functionality of a good flat. Charlotte Olympia does not make shoes for the faint of heart or for the woman on a budget! You can sometimes find a good sale on Charlotte Olympia shoes on Charlotte Olympia's official website, The Outnet, Neiman Marcus or in stores depending on the city/area you live in. Unfortunately for me there is not a store locally that carries the brand. If Charlotte Olympia's price tag is out of reach, you can always go for a look for less that compliments your budget. Here are some of my favorite styles from Charlotte Olympia, including: kitty flats, Dolly, Carmen, Miranda, Polly, Tessa, and Alice. Hopefully I will have a pair (or two) in my closet soon! How do you guys feel about Charlotte Olympia? What high end shoes designers or brands are your favorite?
