Met Gala 2013: Best Dressed

The 2013 Met Gala Red Carpet Arrivals
The theme for this years Met Gala was Punk: Chaos to Couture. While some celebs missed the memo big time, there were others who chose to show off their best interpretation of the theme with daring red carpet looks. Here are my picks for best dressed from the red carpet.

BEST THEME INTERPRETATION
 Madonna
Givenchy Haute Couture

 BEST DRESSED NOMINEE
Anne Hathaway
Valentino
Anne looks amazing and this gown fits her to perfection. A vision in Valentino and the hair adds a wonderful dimension to the overall look.
 Beyonce'
Custom Givenchy
This train is everything to me! I love how dramatic it is paired with the thigh high split. I think Mrs. Knowles-Carter looks amazing although an edgier hairstyle and loosing the gloves would have made this look that much more perfect.
Christina Ricci
Vivienne Westwood
I love this look! I think it is fitting for the punk rock them. The only thing I would change is her hairstyle.

Solange Knowles
Kenzo
She serves as usual!
 Jennifer Lopez
Michael Kors

 Kate Bosworth
Balmain

BEST DRESSED NOMINEE
Naomie Harris
Donna Karen Atelier
Although I find this look gorgeous it reminds me a lot of the gown that Beyonce' wore to the met gala last year, especially the train.
Taylor Swift
J. Mendel

Nicole Richie
Topshop
Nicole owned this look from head to toe and I think that the addition of the hair really made it pop!

BEST DRESSED NOMINEE
 Sarah Jessica Parker
Phillip Treacy, Giles Deacon and Christian Louboutin
SJP rarely disappoints when it comes to a red carpet moment and this was no exception! She owned the carpet and really showed up to be noticed. I love it!
Pharrell
Lanvin
Love this dapper look! Can you believe this man is 40!???

Victor Cruz and Elaina Watley
Lanvin and Naaem Khan
Mr. Cruz's tux is tailored to perfection and I love the pop of color. Although I am not feeling his leading lady's hair, I love her ensemble especially the unexpected pants paired with the long train!
 Joan Smalls and Tom Ford
Tom Ford
Tom Ford is my absolute favorite! In my opinion he makes a men's suit like no other and he is his own best model! The man is the definition of dapper! Joan Smalls is gorgeous as usual and I love the intricate details of her gown.

 Ricardo Tisci and Rooney Mara
Givenchy
I am in love with Rooney's dark vampy limp in juxtapose to her gorgeous white gown. Flawless!

Who are your picks for best dressed at the Met Gala?

The Horror: Met Gala Red Carpet Edition

I have been hoping and praying and hoping again that Kim Kardashian's fashion choices would get better as her pregnancy progressed and with every turn she disappoints me more and more. With access to the best designers, tailors and stylists that money can buy you would think that she would look like perfection every time she steps out in public but that is just not the case. There have been and currently are many chic pregnant celebrities so there is no excuse for her to walk around in ill fitting and unattractive garments. NONE! She claims that it is not Kanye dressing her and always praises his excellent taste and his skills as a designer, and she shops relentlessly, so why then does she look the way she does? For someone who gets it "custom" she rarely gets it right. The met gala was no exception. I mean why on earth would anyone with sight walk out of the house looking the way she did for a red carpet event and why would Mr. Fashion himself not try to help her get it right? I just can't understand. The look was horrid from neck to toe (The only think I did like was her sleek ponytail and her makeup). Please Kim, I beg you, stop trying to be daring, different, edgy and fashion forward. It just does not work for you. Go wit silhouettes that flatter your figure and work for your body type. Please stop squeezing into ill fitting, visibly uncomfortable garments. It is really not becoming. This floral frenzy complete with turtleneck, long sleeves, matching gloves and shoes is horrific! I don't care who designed it, it never should have seen the light of day! For her first met gala red carpet this is an epic fail!

Neon Pumps

Neon accessories are hot right now in fashion. Whether it be a cute clutch or a piece of statement jewelry, adding a bright pop of color is the perfect way to make your outfit stand out in the crowd. Since shoes can make or break an outfit, what better way to spice up a simple outfit than adding a pop of color with a neon pump. Something as simple as a t-shirt and boyfriend jeans can look that much better with a great pair of statement making neon pumps. Here are two options for neon pumps. Would you save or splurge?

I own the Boutique 9 Pumps and they are amazing! Gorgeous vibrant color and very comfortable. I purchased them for a steal at $50.99 and would recommend them for all my ladies looking for the perfect neon pump.

In my house- They look more yellow here for some reason.
Coming soon to an outfit post near you lol!

I am definitely loving neon pumps! What do you think? Do you currently own any or will you be purchasing neon pumps to accent your spring and summer wardrobe?

Currently Trending: Peg Pants

Peg pants are a great way to add versatility to your wardrobe. They can be dressed down with a cute fitted t-shirt or tank and flat sandals or flip flops, as well as dressed up with a cute pair of single strap sandals or pointed toe pumps, a blouse and blazer for a causal day look or a night out on the town. Below are some peg pants currently being offered by ASOS curve. I have ordered a few pair and look forward to mixing and matching them in my spring and summer wardrobe to create cute and comfortable looks that can easily transition from day to night. What do you think about peg pants? Do you already own or will you be adding any to your spring and summer wardrobe?
